Methods for improving and reducing carbon black structure

The structure of carbon black is closely related to the composition and properties of the feedstock oil. The higher the aromatic content in the feedstock, the higher the structure of the carbon black produced. The shorter the residence time of the carbon black particle core in the high temperature region, the lower the structure of the carbon black. In addition, the structure of the reactor and the type of nozzle also have an effect on the structure of carbon black.
In the production of oil furnace carbon black, the structure of carbon black can usually be adjusted by the following methods.
Improve the structure of carbon black:
1. Use feedstock oil with high aromatic content;
2. Use the oil nozzle with a larger spray angle;
3. Design and produce high-structure carbon black reactor;
4. Reduce the degree of turbulence in the reactor.
Reduce the structure of carbon black:
1. Adding alkali metal salts to the raw oil is the most effective to reduce the structure of carbon black. The degree depends on the alkali metal concentration. When 0.01~0.04% of its weight is added to the raw oil, the oil absorption value can be reduced by 0.1~ 0.3 ml/g;
2. Design a reactor for producing low-structure carbon black;
3. Use feed oil with low aromatic content and can reduce carbon black structure;
4. Use the oil nozzle with small spray angle;
5. Improve the degree of turbulence in the reactor.
