Physical and mechanical properties of carbon black

To revitalize national carbon black industry for the purpose, all the Shanxi Starwin people have been actively responding to national transformation and development strategy, will built 11 new carbon black production line with an increase in annual capacity of 220,000 Metric tons, as well as a gas powert plant with capacity of 2*3000KW and 2*9000KW by end of”14th Five-Year National Plan", the total capacity will be 320,000 Metric Tons per year.

The physical and chemical performance indicators of carbon black are ultimately reflected in the physical and mechanical properties of the filled carbon black vulcanizate, such as tensile strength, elongation and abrasion, which are important quality indicators for measuring carbon black in rubber products. Regarding the relationship between carbon black and oil furnace carbon black, its physical and chemical properties and the physical and mechanical properties of filled carbon black vulcanizates can be summarized as follows:

1. The tensile strength increases as the particle size decreases and the iodine absorption value or specific area increases; the oil absorption value increases, and the elongation decreases.

2. The oil absorption value and iodine absorption value increase, and the wear is reduced.

3. The 300% tensile strength, hardness and Mooney viscosity increase with the increase of oil absorption value, but the effect of iodine absorption value is not obvious.

4. The flexural crack increases with the increase of iodine absorption value; the influence of oil absorption value is not obvious.

5. The elasticity decreases with the increase of iodine absorption value.

6. The heat generation of compression increases with the increase of iodine absorption value.
