More Than A Dozen Tire Companies Petitioned The U.S. Department Of Commerce

Recently, more than a dozen tire companies from South Korea, Thailand and other regions have petitioned the US Department of Commerce. They called for a review of import duties on passenger car tires that will be implemented from 2021.

Some overseas investment companies of Chinese companies participated in the petition. In 2020, the United Steelworkers asked the U.S. government to investigate tire imports from four locations in Asia. The survey results show that the price of tires imported from these regions has been significantly lower than the price of tires produced in the United States in the past few years.

In May 2021, the United States decided to impose anti-dumping duties on imported tires from South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan. The anti-dumping investigation against Vietnamese tires was cancelled in the vote, but countervailing duties will be imposed. It is reported that the anti-dumping incident has the greatest impact on Taiwan's tire industry. Since the "Double Reverse", the export volume of local passenger car tires has dropped sharply, and many companies have difficulty making profits.
